Brief Overview
The Chinese Civil War was a prolonged conflict between multiple internal and external parties within China. The fall of the Qing Dynasty and the resulting power gap led to widespread conflict and divison.
The Civil War can be broken up mainly into 4 parties:
- The Communist Party of China (CPC)
- The Koumintang (KMT)
- Qing Dynasty Remants
- Wang Jingwei's Puppet Government
The latter two were puppet governments, propped up by Japan in order to exert influence add provide a staging grounds against the Chinese. The Koumintang (Pronounced (Koo-Min-Tang) is the Nationalist Party of China, led by Chiang Kai-Shek and founded by famous Sun Yat-sen.
After the collapse of the Qing, the central states would be mainly controled by the KMT, and internal political cliques within. The CPC was formed in Shanghai, 1921. After suffering many defeats, political and military, the CPC would retreat to the Yan'an mountains. This retreat was costly and many members and equipment were lost in the process.
The aftermath of this March would see Famous Mao Zedong take control of the CPC.
The Qing Dynasty remants were puppets of Japan. They controled Manchuria and Mengkukuo, two northeastern areas of China.
Wang Jingwei's puppet government only existed to justify Japanese invasion of China. Japan granted it direct control of all conquer lands in China, but everyone knew who Wang really had to answer to.
